Erminia Mazzoni (born April 28, 1965 in Naples ) is an Italian politician of the conservative party Popolo della Libertà (PdL) and a member of the European Parliament .

After graduating in law from La Sapienza University in Rome , Mazzoni first worked as a lawyer. She also completed a second degree in translation and interpreting and completed a course to become a parliamentary translator in English and German.

From 1995 to 2000 Mazzoni was a regional representative in Campania for the Christian Democratic party Unione dei Democratici Cristiani e Democratici di Centro (UDC), which was merged into the Unione di Centro in 2008. Within the UDC she belonged to the Centro Cristiano Democratico (CCD). From 2001 to 2008 she was a member of the Italian Parliament , where she was Chair of the Judiciary Committee from 2006. From 2002 she was a member of the party leadership of the UDC, from 2005 to 2007 she was deputy party leader. From 2004 to 2007 she was also the party's judicial policy spokesperson.

In February 2009, Mazzoni left the UDC to join the conservative Popolo della Libertà party two months later. In the European elections in Italy in 2009 she was on their list and was elected to the European Parliament . Here she chairs the Petitions Committee and is also a member of the Regional Development Committee .
