Ernő Polgár

Ernő Polgár (in Hungary Polgár Ernő; born January 27, 1954 in Bácsalmás , Hungary ; † October 28, 2018 in Brunei ) was a Hungarian writer , literary organizer, dramaturge and cultural scientist. Since 2018 he lived in Borneo Island, Brunei.

Career

Polgár was born as Csupity Ernő in Bácsalmás, he also graduated from high school in his hometown. First he became a librarian, then studied dramaturgy at the Acting and Theater Academy. From 1979 he was dramaturge at the Madách Theater , and in 1997/98 he was a lecturer at the Film and Theater Academy. His literary sociography "Fate of a Tenant", which appeared in the literary magazine "Budapest" in 1975, caused a sensation. In 1981 he received a scholarship from the MTA ( Hungarian Academy of Sciences ), in 1994 from "Soros" and in 1998 from "Pro Renovanda Cultura Hungariae". Since 1998 he has been a freelance writer. From 2000 to 2003 he managed the "Blue Shop Online Gallery and Digital Publishing". From 2002 he was secretary and later vice chairman of the prose department at the Hungarian Writers' Union. Since 2004 he has been a member of the Society of Beautiful Literature. He was a member of the Hungarian PE-N. Clubs .
