Ernest Bryll

Ernest Bryll (born March 1, 1935 in Warsaw ) is a Polish writer .

Bryll studied Polish Philology in Warsaw and graduated in 1957. His first volume of poems was published in 1958. In addition to poetry, his work also consists of prose and dramatic works. The literary trend, for which he and colleagues like Stanisław Grochowiak stood for a long time, is called Turpism because of the supposed glorification of ugliness in Poland . Many of his poems have been set to music and performed by numerous Polish singers. His lyrics to musicals such as The Christmas Story to the music of Wojciech Trzciński have also become famous .

In addition to his work as a poet, Bryll was the ambassador of the Republic of Poland to Ireland from 1991 to 1995 .
