Ernest Chapman

Ernest William Chapman OAM ( April 11, 1926 - March 21, 2013 ) was an Australian rower .

Chapman started for the Sydney Rowing Club , to which he stayed lifelong. At the Olympic rowing regatta in Helsinki in 1952 he won the bronze medal behind the teams from the USA and the Soviet Union with the Australian men's eighth seated in second place. From 1975 to 1978 and from 1979 to 1995 he was chairman of the Sydney RC. For his services to the Australian rowing sport, he was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM).
