Ernest Quost
Ernest Quost (born February 24, 1842 in Avallon (Yonne), † March 24, 1931 in Paris ) was a French flower and landscape painter.
He was probably a student of the Danish painter Horace Aumont (1839–1864) during his stay in Paris.
He made his debut at the Salon de Paris in 1866 and continued to exhibit at the Salon of the Société des Artistes Français , of which he became a member in 1887. His works earned him medals in 1880, 1882 and 1889. He took part in the Paris World's Fair in 1889 and Paris World's Fair in 1900 .
His flower paintings were highly valued by Claude Monet and Vincent van Gogh . He was made a knight in 1883 and an officer of the Legion of Honor in 1903 .
