Ernest Wallmüller (born November 22, 1953 in Linz , Austria ) is an Austrian computer scientist and software quality manager .

Life

Ernest Wallmüller studied computer science and computing technology at the Johannes Kepler University in Linz , where he received his doctorate in technical sciences in 1983. In 1995 he completed his habilitation in business informatics . For several years he was head of research and development projects in the field of software engineering ( CASE , prototyping) at the J. Kepler University in Linz and senior assistant at the ETH Zurich . From 1987 to 1989 he was manager of a group "Software Engineering and Quality Assurance" in the SBG Zurich. There he managed projects to set up a software engineering environment and carried out project audits as well as quality and productivity improvement projects for the IT sector and also implemented metric programs. He then worked for ATAG Ernst & Young in Switzerland, Austria, Germany and England for 6 years . From 1995 to 1997 he was a member of the extended management team and headed the Project Quality Office and Quality Systems department at UNISYS (Schweiz) AG in Thalwil / Switzerland. In 1997 he founded Quality & Informatics. Among other things, he works as a lecturer at various universities and technical colleges.

Focus of work

During his academic career, Wallmüller dealt with issues of design and code quality, implemented metric programs and, together with colleagues, developed a software design process under the name LITOS. In particular, he carried out empirical studies to clarify the relationship between processes, technology and employees. In terms of research method, he pursued an approach based on the analysis and comparison of empirically obtained knowledge. In the business informatics department, he mainly deals with the topics of process engineering, software quality engineering , measurement and analysis programs, project and program risk management and success driver analysis.

In his industrial and business activities he dealt with process and quality systems for IT and software organizations, quality processes in projects and programs, maturity enhancement of software projects and organizations as well as with risk management processes and systems in IT and software-heavy organizations . Since 2010 he has been on the Advisory Board of the international standardization project Enterprise SPICE.
