Live and act

Born in Mainz, she received her artistic training from Marie Ernst , a former member of the Frankfurt City Theater. She made her debut there at the age of 16½ at the end of 1889. This was followed by permanent engagements that took her to Potsdam, Zurich, Berlin and finally to the Dresden Residenztheater. In the last few years before the outbreak of the First World War , Erneste Münchheim was no longer tied to a house, but only worked as a freelancer and, until shortly before her death at the age of 60, appeared mainly as a guest artist.

Münchheim's most important theater roles include Mrs Alving in Ibsen’s Ghosts , mother Wolffen in Hauptmann’s Der Biberpelz , Lona Hassel in Ibsen’s Supporters of Society and Beate in Long Live Life . In addition, Ernestine Münchheim had made a name for herself as a reciter . For many years, the stage artist also had her own drama school that bore her name. For many years, Lilly Ackermann was the head of this facility, the Ernestine Münchheim Studio Berlin .
