Ernesto Treccani

Ernesto Treccani (born August 26, 1920 in Milan , † November 27, 2009 ibid) was an Italian painter .

Treccani was one of the main figures in contemporary Italian painting and an exponent of Italian neorealism. He was called the poet of the picture .

In 1938 he founded the Corrente di Vita giovanile magazine . The members of the artist group Corrente had an anti-fascist attitude. At the beginning of the Second World War , the magazine was banned. Treccani joined the Italian Communist Party and went into resistance .

In 1978 Treccani created the “Fondazione Corrente” study center in Milan. In addition to permanent exhibitions, the Museo Treccani also organizes many contemporary exhibitions.
