The Ernst-Thälmann-Siedlung is a district of the Lutherstadt Eisleben in the district of Mansfeld-Südharz in Saxony-Anhalt .

geography

The settlement is located in the southeast of the urban area and connects Helfta with the core town of Eisleben. It is limited to the northeast by Hallesche Strasse and to the southwest by the Halle-Kassel railway line .

history

The district was built from 1951 as an extension of Eisleben from the northeast. Mainly multi-storey apartment blocks were built. The first houses were already in 1953 on Schillerstrasse. The first residential building began on Halleschen Strasse in 1954. In 1959 the first three-storey building was built in the street of the construction. Since in 1970 some apartments in Eisleben and Helfta became uninhabitable due to subsidence caused by mining, further apartment blocks with a total of 580 apartments were built as replacements on Sonnenweg and Raismeser Straße in the southeast of the district.
