South Trimble

South Trimble (born April 13, 1864 in Hazel Green , Wolfe County , Kentucky , †  November 23, 1946 in Washington, DC ) was an American politician . Between 1901 and 1907 he represented the state of Kentucky in the US House of Representatives .

Career

South Trimble attended Frankfort Public Schools and the Excelsior Institute . He then worked in agriculture near Frankfort. At the same time he began a political career as a member of the Democratic Party . Between 1898 and 1900 he sat as an MP in the Kentucky House of Representatives , whose speaker he was in 1900. In the 1900 congressional election , Trimble was elected to the United States House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the seventh constituency of Kentucky , where he succeeded June Ward Gayle on March 4, 1901 . After two re-elections, he was able to complete three legislative terms in Congress by March 3, 1907 .

In 1906 Trimble renounced another candidacy for the US House of Representatives. Instead, he ran unsuccessfully for the office of Lieutenant Governor of Kentucky. Between 1911 and 1919 Trimble was employed as the Clerk of the House of Representatives with the Congress Administration. He held this post again from 1931 until his death in 1946. In between he managed his plantation near Selma ( Alabama ) from 1919 to 1931 .
