John Henry Wilson (politician)

John Henry Wilson (born January 30, 1846 in Crab Orchard , Lincoln County , Kentucky , †  January 14, 1923 in Louisville , Kentucky) was an American politician . Between 1889 and 1893 he represented the state of Kentucky in the US House of Representatives .

Career

After primary school, John Wilson attended Tusculum College in Greeneville ( Tennessee ) until 1870 . After a subsequent law degree and his admission as a lawyer in 1871, he began to work in Barbourville in this profession. He also worked in agriculture. He was also involved in the construction of the Dixie Highway . Politically, he was a member of the Republican Party . Between 1883 and 1887 he was a member of the Kentucky Senate .

In the congressional election of 1888 Wilson was elected to the United States House of Representatives in Washington, DC , in the tenth constituency of Kentucky , where he succeeded Democrat William P. Taulbee on March 4, 1889 . Two years later, Wilson ran for Congress in the eleventh district . After his election victory, he was able to replace Hugh F. Finley there on March 4, 1891 . Thus, between March 4, 1889 and March 3, 1893, he completed two legislative terms for two electoral districts in the US House of Representatives.

After not being confirmed in the 1892 elections, John Wilson withdrew from politics. As a result, he practiced again as a lawyer in Barbourville. He died in Louisville on January 14, 1923 and was buried in Barbourville.
