John L. Murray (politician)

John L. Murray (born January 25, 1806 in Pennsylvania , †  January 31, 1842 in Wadesboro , Kentucky ) was an American politician . Between 1837 and 1839 he represented the state of Kentucky in the US House of Representatives .

Career

The exact place of birth of John Murray is unknown. There is also no information about his youth in Pennsylvania. What is certain is that he studied law and was admitted to the bar. Murray later moved to Kentucky, where he held various local offices. He became a member of the Democratic Party and was a member of the Kentucky House of Representatives from 1830 to 1835 .

In the 1836 congressional election , Murray was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the first constituency of Kentucky , where he succeeded Linn Boyd on March 4, 1837 . Until March 3, 1839 he was able to complete a legislative period in Congress . After leaving Congress, Murray has not held any other higher office. He died in Wadesboro on January 31, 1842.

According to him, the city is Murray of Calloway County in Kentucky named.
