Michael Delavan "Mike" Ward (born January 7, 1951 in White Plains , New York ) is an American politician . Between 1995 and 1997 he represented the state of Kentucky in the US House of Representatives .

Career

After Atherton High School , Mike Ward studied at the University of Louisville until 1974 . Then he worked in trade. At the same time he began a political career as a member of the Democratic Party . From 1985 to 1989 he served in the Jefferson County county council . Between 1989 and 1993 he was a member of the Kentucky House of Representatives .

In the 1994 congressional election , Ward was elected to the United States House of Representatives in Washington, DC , in the third constituency of Kentucky , where he succeeded Romano L. Mazzoli on January 3, 1995 . Since he lost to Anne Northup of the Republican Party in the following elections in 1996 , he was only able to serve one term in Congress until January 3, 1997 .

After leaving the US House of Representatives, Ward worked for the Peace Corps . Between 2001 and 2005 he hosted a radio talk show in Louisville . Today he is the manager of the Saint Consulting Group .
