Marcus C. Lisle

Marcus Claiborne Lisle (born September 23, 1862 in Winchester , Kentucky , †  July 7, 1894 ibid) was an American politician . Between 1893 and 1894 he represented the state of Kentucky in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Marcus Lisle attended public schools in his home country and then studied at the University of Kentucky in Lexington . After a subsequent law degree at Columbia University in New York City and his admission as a lawyer, he began to work in Winchester in this profession from 1887. In 1890 he became a Clark County district judge .

Politically, Lisle was a member of the Democratic Party . In the congressional election of 1892 he was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC , in the tenth constituency of Kentucky , where he succeeded Joseph M. Kendall on March 4, 1893 . However, he could only exercise his mandate until July 7, 1894. That day he died in his hometown of Winchester. His mandate fell to William M. Beckner after a by-election .
