Henry Dixon Allen (born June 24, 1854 in Henderson , Kentucky , †  March 9, 1924 in Morganfield , Kentucky) was an American politician . Between 1899 and 1903 he represented the state of Kentucky in the US House of Representatives .

Career

As early as 1855, Henry Allen came to Morganfield with his parents, where he attended public schools and the Morganfield Collegiate Institute . Between 1869 and 1875 he taught as a teacher in Union County . After studying medicine at Missouri Medical College in St. Louis ( Missouri ) and his 1877 admission as a doctor, he practiced between 1877 and 1878 in Union County in this profession. In 1878 he gave up this activity again; instead he went to law school. After his admission to the bar in the same year, he worked as a lawyer in Morganfield.

Allen was a school councilor in Union County between 1879 and 1881. From 1882 to 1891 he served as a public prosecutor in this district. Politically, he was a member of the Democratic Party . In the congressional election of 1898 he was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the second constituency of Kentucky , where he succeeded John Daniel Clardy on March 4, 1899 . After re-election in 1900, he was able to complete two legislative terms in Congress until March 3, 1903 .

In 1902, Allen decided not to run again. As a result, he worked again as a lawyer and in banking and agriculture. Henry Allen died on March 9, 1924 in his home town of Morganfield.
