Thomas Y. Fitzpatrick

Thomas Young Fitzpatrick (born September 20, 1850 in Prestonsburg , Floyd County , Kentucky , †  January 21, 1906 in Frankfort , Kentucky) was an American politician . Between 1897 and 1901 he represented the state of Kentucky in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Thomas Fitzpatrick attended public schools in his home country. After studying law and being admitted to the bar in 1877, he began to work in this profession. He then worked temporarily as a district judge. Between 1880 and 1884 he was a district attorney.

Politically, Fitzpatrick became a member of the Democratic Party . He was a member of the Kentucky House of Representatives in 1876 and 1877 . In the congressional elections of 1896 he was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC , in the tenth constituency of Kentucky , where he succeeded Nathan T. Hopkins on March 4, 1897 . After re-election in 1898, he was able to complete two terms in Congress until March 3, 1901 . During this time the Spanish-American War fell .

After leaving the US House of Representatives, Thomas Fitzpatrick retired from politics. He died on January 21, 1906 in Frankfort, where he was also buried.
