Marion Gene Snyder (born January 26, 1928 in Louisville , Kentucky , †  February 16, 2007 in Naples , Florida ) was an American politician . Between 1963 and 1987 he represented the state of Kentucky in the US House of Representatives with one interruption from 1965 to 1967 .

Career

Gene Snyder attended public schools in his home country and then DuPont Manual High School . He then studied law until 1950 at the University of Louisville, among other things. After his admission to the bar in the same year, he began to work in this profession in Louisville. From 1954 to 1958 he was the legal representative for the Jeffersontown Community . Between 1958 and 1962 he was a member of the Jefferson County county council . At the time, Snyder was also involved in insurance, real estate, agriculture, and housing.

Politically, Snyder was a member of the Republican Party . In 1968, 1976, 1980 and 1984 he took part as a delegate at the respective Republican National Conventions , at which Richard Nixon , Gerald Ford and finally Ronald Reagan were nominated as presidential candidates. In the congressional elections of 1962 Snyder in the third was electoral district of Kentucky in the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC chosen, where he succeeded the on January 3, 1963 Democrats Frank W. Burke took. Since he lost to Charles R. Farnsley in 1964 , he could only serve one term in Congress until January 3, 1965 . Gene Snyder died on February 16, 2007 in Naples.
