Samuel H. Woodson (politician, 1777)

Samuel Hughes Woodson (born September 15, 1777 in Charlottesville , Virginia , †  July 28, 1827 in Jessamine County , Kentucky ) was an American politician . Between 1821 and 1823 he represented the state of Kentucky in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Samuel Woodson attended public schools in his home country. After a subsequent law degree and his admission as a lawyer in 1802, he began to practice in Nicholasville in this profession. Between 1803 and 1819 he was a clerk at the Jessamine County District Court.

In the congressional elections of 1820 Woodson was elected as an independent candidate in the second constituency of Kentucky to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC , where he took up his new mandate on March 4, 1821. Since he was not confirmed in 1822, he could only serve one term in Congress until March 3, 1823 . After his time in the US House of Representatives, Woodson practiced as a lawyer again. He was a member of the Kentucky House of Representatives in 1825 and 1826 .
