Elva R. Kendall

Elva Roscoe Kendall (born February 14, 1893 in Carlisle , Nicholas County , Kentucky , †  January 29, 1968 ibid) was an American politician . Between 1929 and 1931 he represented the state of Kentucky in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Elva Kendall attended public schools in his home country and then attended the YMCA School of Accountancy in New York City . He then studied at the National University in Washington, DC In the following years, Kendall worked as a tax advisor and public accountant. He also worked in agriculture. During the First World War he was in the personnel department of the 61st American Division. Between 1922 and 1927 he worked as a field auditor for the US Treasury Department .

Politically, Kendall was a member of the Republican Party . In the 1928 congressional elections , he was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington in the ninth constituency of Kentucky, where he succeeded Fred M. Vinson on March 4, 1929 . Since he was defeated by his predecessor Vinson in the elections of 1930, he could only complete one term in Congress until March 3, 1931 . After leaving the US House of Representatives, Elva Kendall withdrew from politics. He resumed his previous work as an accountant and in agriculture and died on January 29, 1968.
