Geoffrey C. "Geoff" Davis (born October 26, 1958 in Montreal , Canada ) is an American politician . From 2005 to 2012 he represented the state of Kentucky in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Geoff Davis was born in Montreal to American parents. He attended public schools in West Pittsburgh ( Pennsylvania ) and completed in 1981, the US Military Academy in West Point . In the 1980s, he served as an officer in the United States Army Rangers in the Middle East. Until 1987 he was a member of the armed forces. In the following years he worked as a consultant and in the trade.

Davis became a member of the Republican Party . In 2002 he ran for the first time, still unsuccessfully, for Congress . In the 2004 congressional election he was elected to the United States House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the fourth constituency of Kentucky , where he succeeded Ken Lucas of the Democratic Party on January 3, 2005 . After he was confirmed in all subsequent elections, he was able to exercise his mandate until his resignation on July 31, 2012; a few months earlier he had already announced that he would not run again. Davis was considered a Conservative MP. Most recently he was a member of the Committee on Ways and Means and two of its sub-committees.

Geoff Davis is married. He lives privately with his wife in Hebron , Kentucky.
