Georg Gstöhl
Georg Gstöhl (born June 14, 1925 in Balzers ; † September 22, 1999 ibid) was a Liechtenstein teacher and politician (VU).
biography
Gstöhl was born in Balzers in 1925 as the son of August Gstöhl and his wife Sara (née Nigg). His father worked as a Wuhrmeister on the Rhine and also ran a small farm. He grew up with three younger sisters and attended school in Balzers. He then attended the teacher training college in Rickenbach, where he received a diploma as a primary school teacher. His first job as a teacher took him to Mauren , where he worked for two years. In 1946 he was transferred to Gamprin , where he worked for eight years and also worked as the head of the church choir and as an organist in the parish church. From 1954 he was a teacher in Balzers at the primary school there, which he remained until his retirement in 1990. In addition to his work as a teacher, he ran the school for many years and was a member of the community school board. Among other things, the creation of the school library and the community library go back to his initiative.
In 1957 Gstöhl was elected to the Balzers City Council and was a member of it until 1979. During this time he was vice chairman of the community from 1972 to 1975. After he was deputy member of the state parliament of the Principality of Liechtenstein from 1970 to 1978 for the Patriotic Union , he was elected member in 1978. He retained his mandate until 1986, during which time he held the post of parliamentary group spokesman for the Fatherland Union from 1982 to 1986.
Gstöhl was married to Lore Wachter († 1996) since 1955, whose parents owned a shoe store in Schaan . The marriage produced three daughters. His youngest daughter Sieglinde is a professor at the College of Europe in Bruges .
Georg Stöhl died on September 22, 1999 at the age of 74 in his home town of Balzers.
Honor
For his more than 50 years of service as organist in the Unterland and in the Balzers community, he was honored with the papal merit medal "Bene merenti" .
