Sieglinde Gstöhl

Sieglinde Gstöhl (* 1964 ) is a Liechtenstein political scientist and university professor .

Life

Sieglinde Gstöhl is the youngest of three daughters of Georg Gstöhl and his wife Lore († 1996). She studied at the University of Economics and Social Sciences in St. Gallen , where she received her licentiate in political science in 1988 ( lic.rer.publ. ). In 1990 she received her Diplôme d'études supérieures in International Relations and Political Science from the Geneva University Institute for International Studies . From 1992 to 1993 she was a Special Student in the Department of Government and then an International Institutions Fellow at the Center for International Affairs at Harvard University in Cambridge . From February 1994 to April 1995 Gstöhl was the project manager for the referendum on the “European Economic Area and Customs Treaty with Switzerland” at the Liechtenstein Chamber of Commerce and Industry .

In 1998 she completed her doctorate in international relations at the Geneva University Institute for International Studies. The topic of her dissertation was " Reluctant Europeans: Sweden, Norway and Switzerland in the Process of European Integration (1950-1995) ". From February 1998 to March 1999 she worked as research officer for political science at the Liechtenstein Institute in Bendern . From April 1999 to March 2005, Gstöhl was a research assistant in the Department of International Politics at the Institute for Social Sciences at the Humboldt University in Berlin . In April 2005 she became a professor at the College of Europe in Bruges , until April 2006 at the Department of European Political and Administrative Studies , then at the Department of EU International Relations and Diplomacy Studies . Since September 2010 she has been the director of this department. She has also been a member of the Scientific Council of the Liechtenstein Institute since October 2008.
