Carroll Hubbard
Carroll Hubbard Jr. (born July 7, 1937 in Murray , Kentucky ) is an American politician . Between 1975 and 1993 he represented the state of Kentucky in the US House of Representatives .
Career
Carroll Hubbard attended public schools in his home country and then Eastern High School in Middletown until 1955 . He then studied at Georgetown College until 1959 . After studying law at the University of Louisville and being admitted to the bar in 1962, he began practicing this profession in Mayfield . Between 1962 and 1970, Hubbard was a member of the Kentucky National Guard. He was in their air corps until 1968 and then with the ground units.
Politically, Hubbard became a member of the Democratic Party . He was a member of the Kentucky Senate from 1968 to 1975 . In the 1974 congressional elections , he was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the first constituency of Kentucky , where he succeeded Frank Stubblefield on January 3, 1975 . After eight re-elections, he was able to complete nine consecutive terms in Congress by January 3, 1993 . In 1979, he ran unsuccessfully for his party's nomination for gubernatorial elections .
In 1992, Carroll Hubbard was involved in the Rubbergate scandal. He was then no longer nominated by his party for another term in the US House of Representatives. Hubbard pleaded guilty to violating federal election campaign laws and was sentenced to two years in prison, serving between 1995 and 1997. In 2006 and 2008 he ran unsuccessfully for the Kentucky Senate.
