Henry Davis McHenry (born February 27, 1826 in Hartford , Ohio County , Kentucky , †  December 17, 1890 ibid) was an American politician . Between 1871 and 1873 he represented the state of Kentucky in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Henry McHenry was a son of John H. McHenry (1797–1871), who also represented the state of Kentucky in Congress between 1845 and 1847 . The younger McHenry attended public schools in his homeland. After a subsequent law degree at Transylvania University in Lexington and his admission to the bar in 1845, he began to work in Hartford in this profession. Politically, McHenry was a member of the Democratic Party . From 1851 to 1853 and again between 1865 and 1867 he was a member of the House of Representatives from Kentucky . From 1861 to 1865 he was a member of the State Senate . From 1872 until his death he was a member of the Democratic National Committee .

In the congressional elections of 1870 he was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the second constituency of Kentucky , where he succeeded William N. Sweeney on March 4, 1871 . By March 3, 1871, McHenry completed a term in Congress. He then practiced again as a lawyer in Hartford. In 1890 he was a delegate to a meeting to revise the Kentucky Constitution. Henry McHenry died on December 17, 1890 in Hartford, where he was also buried.
