Chester O. Carrier

Chester Otto Carrier (born May 5, 1897 in Brownsville , Edmonson County , Kentucky , †  September 24, 1980 in North Seminole , Florida ) was an American politician . Between 1943 and 1945 he represented the state of Kentucky in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Chester Carrier attended public schools in Grayson County . He then studied at West Virginia University in Morgantown . In the meantime he worked for a year on a ranch in Wyoming and on the railroad in Pennsylvania . After studying law at the University of Louisville and being admitted to the bar in 1924, he began practicing this profession in Leitchfield . Between 1925 and 1943 he was a district attorney in Grayson County.

Politically, Carrier was a member of the Republican Party . After the death of the MP Edward W. Creal , he was elected in the fourth constituency of Kentucky as his successor to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC , where he took up his new mandate on November 30, 1943. Since he was defeated by the Democrat Frank Chelf in the regular congressional elections in 1944 , he was only able to end the current term of his predecessor in Congress until January 3, 1945 . This time was marked by the events of the Second World War .

After his time in the US House of Representatives, Carrier practiced again as a lawyer in Leitchfield. He spent his old age in Seminole County , Florida; He died there on September 24, 1980.
