Iberia Express is a Spanish low-cost airline based in Madrid and based at Madrid-Barajas Airport . It is a subsidiary of Iberia and thus also belongs to the International Airlines Group (IAG). It is also a member of the oneworld aviation alliance .

history

Iberia Express was founded in 2011 and began flight operations on March 25, 2012. Iberia Express took over several Spanish and European routes from Madrid-Barajas from Iberia.

Destinations

In addition to a few Spanish destinations, Iberia Express serves Berlin-Tegel , Dublin , Düsseldorf , Frankfurt , Copenhagen , Athens , Riga , Stuttgart and St. Petersburg from Madrid-Barajas . It took over the flight destinations from its parent company Iberia.

criticism

Unions have criticized planes and routes being moved from parent company Iberia to low-cost airline Iberia Express. The start of operations was accompanied by strikes by the parent company's pilots.
