Founding and first years as Iberworld
The airline was founded under the name Iberworld Airlines in 1998 and started operating on April 11, 1998 with a Lockheed L-1011 leased from Classic Airways . The very next day, she received her first Airbus A320-200 , four more A320s followed by the end of the year and the L-1011 was returned to the lessor. In February 1998 an Airbus A310-300 taken over by Transavia joined the fleet, and in the same year it received its fifth A320. The first Airbus A330-200 entered the fleet in 2001.
New concept as Orbest Orizonia
On May 1, 2011, Iberworld Airlines was renamed Orbest Orizonia Airlines and a new corporate design was introduced. At the same time, the concept was expanded from charter to scheduled flights .
On December 10, 2012, Orizonia announced the sale of the airline to Grupo Globalia , the parent company of Air Europa . Orizonia has since filed for bankruptcy , but the competition authorities have not yet given final approval to the takeover of Orbest Orizonia Airlines by Grupo Globalia . As a result, a large part of the fleet had been on the ground since February 15, 2013 and numerous flights had to be canceled, and the company's website was shut down. At the beginning of March 2013, Orbest Orizonia transferred its remaining aircraft to its Portuguese sister company Orbest and ceased operations completely.
