Air Nostrum, Líneas Aéreas del Mediterráneo, SA is a Spanish regional airline with headquarters in Valencia and operations bases in Valencia , Barcelona and Madrid-Barajas . It operates all flights under the Iberia Regional brand for Iberia on the basis of a franchise agreement .

history

Air Nostrum started operations on December 15, 1994 as an independent airline.

In 1997 an extensive cooperation agreement was signed with Iberia. In the same year it acquired the Iberia subsidiary Binter Mediterráneo, including its route network and fleet. In 1999 Iberia merged with Aviaco , with Aviaco's national and international route network also being transferred to Air Nostrum. Since then, all machines have been repainted in the Iberia corporate design .

With delivery in mid-December 2010, Air Nostrum and Brit Air were the first customers of the Bombardier CRJ1000 .

Air Nostrum is owned by Nefinsa (74.8 percent), Caja Duero (22.2 percent) and Air Nostrum Management (3 percent).

In 2015 she expanded together with the Bolivian Línea Aérea Amaszonas to Paraguay and founded the Amaszonas del Paraguay there .

Air Nostrum mainly flies national routes within Spain, for example to Badajoz , A Coruña , Barcelona , Salamanca , Madrid , Seville and Saragossa , on behalf of and branding Iberia . Internationally, destinations in Algeria , Belgium , Germany , France , Morocco , the Netherlands , Portugal and Italy are served. In German-speaking countries is Dusseldorf served.

In the 2013 summer season, Air Nostrum also operated charter flights between Rostock and Palma de Mallorca .

Incidents

In its history, Air Nostrum recorded one aircraft loss, but no fatalities:

  • On January 17, 2003, an Air Nostrum Fokker 50 with the registration number PH-FZE arriving from Málaga had an accident while landing in the Spanish enclave of Melilla . The machine shot over the end of the runway in a strong wind and broke in two. Of the 19 people on board, nine were injured, two of them seriously.
