Amas Bolivia , until 2019 Línea Aérea Amaszonas ( Amaszonas airline), is a Bolivian airline based in La Paz that operates passenger flights within Bolivia and to other, mostly bordering countries in South America .
history
Línea Aérea Amaszonas was founded in 1999. As a charter provider, the company flew tourists, mail and freight throughout Bolivia with propeller planes, first caravans and later the larger Fairchild Swearingen Metroliner . In August 2012, it ventured into scheduled flights with the introduction of five new Bombardier Regional Jet aircraft within a few months.
In 2015 she expanded to Paraguay together with the Spanish Air Nostrum and founded the Amaszonas del Paraguay there . This was made possible by the takeover of the Air Operators Certificate (AOC) from the BQB Líneas Aéreas , which was decommissioned in April 2015 and whose last ATR-72 aircraft was withdrawn from the fleet in February 2016.
The company received its current name on September 3, 2019.
Destinations
Amas Bolivia maintains routes from La Paz , Cochabamba (in central Bolivia) and Santa Cruz de la Sierra (in eastern Bolivia) to nine other cities in Bolivia, between the cities of these regions as well as international connections to Peru ( Cusco and Arequipa ), Chile ( Iquique ) , Argentina ( Salta ), Brazil ( Campo Grande and Cuiabá ), Uruguay ( Montevideo ) and Paraguay ( Asunción ). The main destinations are Trinidad and Rurrenabaque .
Amaszonas used various smaller aircraft from Fairchild and Cessna for up to 17 passengers. Canceled flights were frequent due to the special conditions in the north and northeast of Bolivia. Many runways are also grass runways , which often cause problems in bad weather. This does not affect the international routes and the flights to Rurrenabaque, Trinidad and Uyuni .
