The airport A Coruña ( Spanish Aeropuerto de La Coruña , Galician Aeroporto de A Coruña ; IATA Code : LCG , ICAO code LECO ) is a commercial airport in Galicia (Spain) in the extreme northwest of the Iberian Peninsula . It is located 8 kilometers south of the city of A Coruña near Alvedro and is therefore also called Aeroporto de Alvedro .
Airlines and Destinations
A Coruña is not served non-stop from German-speaking countries, but via Madrid and Barcelona . Iberia and Air Europa offer flights from Madrid, while Vueling Airlines flies from Barcelona.
Incidents
- On August 13, 1973, a Caravelle 10R of the Spanish Aviaco ( aircraft registration EC-BIC ) was flown off-road on the fourth attempt at the La Coruña airport ( Spain ). In this CFIT ( Controlled flight into terrain ) all 85 occupants, 6 crew members and 79 passengers were killed.
