After the war, spoke Spanish Air Force the Base Aérea de Caudé decades, not least because of excellent meteorological conditions and low air traffic as a firing range.

In March 2009, as decided two years earlier, construction of the current airport began on the site of the former military base . The state aviation safety authority AESA issued the operating license at the beginning of February 2013.

Since then, the main user has been the aircraft recycling company Tarmac Aerosave , whose shareholders are Airbus , Snecma and SITA . A total of 340 hectares with 225 parking spaces are available.

Therefore, Teruel mainly serves as an aircraft graveyard , where aircraft are parked during temporary shutdowns, or they are cannibalized and recycled.
