Fly LEVEL SL , brand name LEVEL , is a Spanish virtual airline based in El Prat de Llobregat near Barcelona and based at Barcelona Airport . It is a subsidiary of the International Airlines Group , which also includes British Airways , Iberia , Aer Lingus and Vueling . Level is currently not a traditional airline , but rather sells flights operated by Iberia.

history

At the end of 2016, Willie Walsh, CEO of IAG, announced that it would offer a low-cost long-haul line from 2017. This happened mainly against the background of increasing competition from low-cost airlines such as Norwegian Air or Eurowings . On March 18, 2017, the IAG announced that the new low-cost airline would be named Level . On June 1, 2017, Level started flight operations with two new Airbus A330-200s from Barcelona Airport. These received their own painting and their own cabin. Vueling, which operates a hub at Barcelona Airport , also serves as a feeder for the new company.

IAG is also planning to expand Level, have it operated by other European airports and expand to five aircraft in summer 2018.

Two more Airbus A330s will be delivered in 2019 and are intended for use in Vienna - but will operate in Paris beforehand.

On June 19th, 2020 Level Europe filed for bankruptcy and on July 9th, 2020 it was announced that OpenSkies will be liquidated.

Destinations

Level operates long-haul flights to Boston, Buenos Aires, San Francisco and Los Angeles from its hub in Barcelona.

Level also has codeshare agreements with American Airlines and Vueling .
