Andrew Rechmond Boone (born April 4, 1831 in Davidson County , Tennessee , † January 26, 1886 in Mayfield , Kentucky ) was an American politician . Between 1875 and 1879 he represented the state of Kentucky in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Andrew Boone and his parents came to Mayfield, Kentucky as early as 1833. There he attended public schools. After a subsequent law degree and his admission as a lawyer in 1852, he began to work in Mayfield in this profession. Between 1854 and 1861 he was a district judge in Graves County . As a supporter of the Confederation , in 1861 he supported the movement that called for Kentucky to leave the Union. At that time he was a member of the Democratic Party in the Kentucky House of Representatives .

During the Civil War , Boone did not make political appearances. From 1868 to 1874 he served as a judge in the Kentucky First District Court. In the congressional elections of 1874 he was then elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC , in the first constituency of Kentucky , where he succeeded Edward Crossland on March 4, 1875 . After a re-election in 1876, he was able to complete two terms in Congress until March 3, 1879 .

In 1878 Boone declined to run again. Since 1882 he was chairman of the Kentucky State Railroad Committee. He held this office until his death on January 26, 1886. He was buried in Mayfield.
