Davidson County is a county in the US state of Tennessee in the United States . The county seat is Nashville .

The county is located northwest of the geographic center of Tennessee, is about 25 miles north of Kentucky and has an area of ​​1,363 square kilometers, of which 62 square kilometers are water. It is bordered clockwise by the following counties: Robertson County , Sumner County , Wilson County , Rutherford County , Williamson County, and Cheatham County .

history

Davidson County was formed on April 18, 1783 from parts of Washington County. It was named after William Lee Davidson , an American war hero who was killed in the Battle of Valley Forge .

Historical objects

  • About 19 kilometers east of Nashville is the historic Hermitage . It was the residence of the seventh US President Andrew Jackson . It is located on US Route 70N, and was listed as a memorial by the NRHP in 1966 (NRHP ID 66000722).

According to the 2000 census , Davidson County had 569,891 people in 237,405 households and 138,169 families. The population density was 438 inhabitants per square kilometer.
