Hamblen County is a county in the US state of Tennessee in the United States . The county seat is Morristown .

The county is located in northeast Tennessee, about 50 km north of Virginia and has an area of 456 square kilometers, of which 38 square kilometers are water. It is bordered clockwise by the following counties: Hawkins County , Greene County , Cocke County , Jefferson County, and Grainger County .
history
Hamblen County was formed on June 8, 1870 and named after lawyer and local landowner Hezekiel Hamblen (1775-1855). The district court building was completed in 1874, expanded in 1955 and completely renovated between 1968 and 1970.
Twelve structures and sites in the county are listed on the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) (as of August 16, 2018).

As of the 2000 census , Hamblen County had 58,128 people in 23,211 households and 16,595 families. The population density was 139 people per square kilometer. The racial the population was composed of 90.72 percent white, 4.12 percent African American, 0.22 percent Native American, 0.58 percent Asian, 0.06 percent of residents from the Pacific island area and 3.32 percent from other ethnic groups Groups; 0.99 percent were descended from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 5.68 percent of the population.
Of the 23,211 households, 30.5 percent had children and young people under the age of 18 living with them. 56.1 percent were married couples living together, 11.3 percent were single mothers, and 28.5 percent were non-families. 24.7 percent were single households and 9.6 percent had people aged 65 or over. The average household size was 2.47 and the average household size was 2.91 people.
23.3 percent of the population were under 18 years old, 8.9 percent between 18 and 24, 29.6 percent between 25 and 44, 24.9 percent between 45 and 64 and 13.3 percent were older than 65. The mean age was 37 years. Statistically, there were 97.1 males for every 100 females and 93.5 males for every 100 females aged 18 and over.
The median income for a household in the city was $ 32,350 , and the median income for a family was $ 39,138. Males had a median income of $ 30,009 versus $ 21,309 for females. The per capita income was $ 17,743. 14.4 percent of the population and 10.5 percent of families lived below the poverty line.
