Jacob Shall Golladay (born January 19, 1819 in Lebanon , Tennessee , †  May 20, 1887 in Russellville , Kentucky ) was an American politician . Between 1867 and 1870 he represented the state of Kentucky in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Jacob Golladay was the older brother of Edward Isaac Golladay (1830-1897), who between 1871 and 1873 represented the state of Tennessee in Congress . He attended the public schools in his home country. In 1838 he moved to Nashville ; from 1845 he was resident in Kentucky, where he practiced as a lawyer after studying law.

Golladay was a member of the Democratic Party . Between 1851 and 1853 he was a member of the Kentucky House of Representatives ; from 1853 to 1855 he was a member of the State Senate . After the death of MP Elijah Hise , Golladay was elected in the third electoral district of Kentucky as his successor in the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC , where he took up his new mandate on December 5, 1867. After re-election in 1868, he could remain in Congress until his resignation on February 28, 1870. During this time, the failed impeachment proceedings against President Andrew Johnson fell .

After serving in the US House of Representatives, Jacob Golladay worked as a lawyer in Allensville . He died on May 20, 1887 near Russellville; He was buried in this city.
