Nicholasville is the fourteenth largest city in the US state of Kentucky and the county seat of Jessamine County .
The city, named after George Nicholas , an attorney general , had 19,680 residents as of the 2000 census . In 2004, an estimate of 22,878 inhabitants was assumed. The city itself extends over an area of 22 km 2 .
Nicholasville has 93.05% of the population with white skin color, second place is occupied by African Americans with 4.38%. The rest are made up of members of other ethnic groups. 40% of the population are 24 years old or younger; the average age is 31 years.
