Ernst Toller Prize

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Ernst Toller Prize is a literature prize created in 1993 by the Ernst Toller Society , the Lions Club and the city of Neuburg an der Donau for special literary achievements in the border area between literature and politics. The prize is awarded every two years and is endowed with 5000 euros.

It reminds of Ernst Toller , who was a well-known German-language playwright in the 1920s.

Neuburg an der Donau took on Ernst Tollers because it was here that he created his most important works during his imprisonment, but above all in the nearby Niederschönenfeld . In addition, since his birthplace is in what is now Poland, it was not expected that his legacy would receive any resonance there.
