task

The association wants to contribute to a renewal of theological theory formation. It does this by promoting the study of von Troeltsch's work and studying its significance for contemporary scientific work (Articles of Association, Section 2). In particular, she fosters the interaction of various scientific disciplines that are affected by the work of Ernst Troeltsch. It supports a critical Troeltsch edition and the related work and facilities. In this sense, it supports the establishment and maintenance of an archive, a scientific workstation and other suitable undertakings. The society encourages work relevant to Troeltsch research and works towards its publication.

The society organizes scientific colloquia and congresses at regular intervals, which are documented in the Troeltsch studies published in Gütersloh . It also publishes the communications of the Ernst Troeltsch Society .

Since 1998 the publisher Walter de Gruyter has published the complete critical edition of Troeltsch's works, including official writings, speeches, expert reports, letters, posthumous texts and dictations. Ten of the planned twenty volumes are currently available.
