Ernst Behrendt (born December 10, 1921 ) is a former German soccer player. From 1949 to 1951 he played in the top league of GDR football .

Athletic career

In the 1949/50 season, the 28-year-old Ernst Behrendt began his career in top football in the GDR. He was part of the team of players of the company sports community (BSG) Märkische Volksstimme Babelsberg , which was one of the founding teams of the soccer league of the German Sports Committee , which was restarted this season . Behrendt was a regular player in the Babelsberg team from the start , for which he played 24 times in the 26 league games. He was mainly used as a left defender, and he was successful four times as a goalscorer. After four match days in the 1950/51 season, the BSG changed its name to Rotation Babelsberg. Since the previous left winger Erich Gießler was not available, coach Hans Höfer Behrendt used his position. With his eight goals, Behrendt proved that he could also assert himself as a striker. However, he could only be used twelve times, mainly in the first half of the season, which lasted 34 game days. In the 1951/52 season, Behrendt tried a new start with the Potsdam second-class sports community of the German People's Police . After he was only used in two league games, the 31-year-old then said goodbye to competitive sports.
