Ernst Buchholz , (born February 12, 1905 in Bremen ; † October 9, 1974 in Bremen) was a works council chairman , politician ( SPD ) and member of the Bremen citizenship .

biography

education and profession

Buchholz completed his apprenticeship as a motor vehicle mechanic and worked as a car mechanic, fitter and driver in Bremen.

From 1951 to 1967 he was the works council chairman of the automobile group of Borgward , Goliath and Lloyd . It was Carl Borgward who Buchholz “offered respect and cooperation within certain limits”. In the “work community-based ideas (Borgwards) of the relationship between workforce and entrepreneurs, both (through) the works council and the union were personified in the works council chairman Ernst Buchholz”. "In addition, Buchholz had 'his' workforce 'under control' and thus made their behavior more predictable for Borgward, so that maintaining good relations with Buchholz also promised tangible advantages for Borgward - and vice versa".

Buchholz was a member of the SPD in Bremen and a member of the IG Metall union .

From 1951 to 1967 he was a member of the Bremen citizenship and various deputations of the citizenship for 16 years .

Honors

The Ernst-Buchholz-Straße in Bremen, district Obervieland , district - Habenhausen , was named after him.
