Ernst Hampel (politician)

Ernst Hampel (born August 18, 1885 in Bodenstadt , Moravia ; † January 23, 1964 in Oberfellabrunn , Lower Austria ) was an Austrian politician ( GDVP ) and a public school teacher. From 1924 to 1934 he was a member of the Austrian National Council .

education and profession

After primary school, Hampel attended grammar school in Mährisch-Weißkirchen , where he graduated from high school in 1905 . He studied history and philosophy and took the teaching qualification test for teaching at elementary schools in 1909 and the teaching qualification test for teaching at community schools in 1910. His doctorate followed in 1914. Professionally, Hampel worked as a primary school teacher in Groß-Siegharts and a specialist teacher at the Siemens School in Floridsdorf. He was appointed director of the civic school and a councilor in 1934. In the same year he retired for political reasons and was briefly imprisoned. He subsequently wrote various works on the "Arbeitsschule" and from 1945 led a secluded life in Oberfellabrunn.

Politics and functions

Hampel was a member of the Reich Execution Committee of the Greater German People's Party and President of the German Trade and Industry Association for Vienna, Lower Austria and Burgenland. In addition, he was involved as chairman of the parliamentary club of the National Economic Bloc and was chairman of the general club of Greater German MPs. He was also party commissioner and acting head of the Lower Austrian state trade association and from 1938 Gauführer deputy in the trade and industry. He was also an SA leader and Gaul propagandist in the Hollabrunn district. Between November 10, 1920 and May 2, 1934, Hampel was a member of the National Council with two brief interruptions.
