Ernst Hohner

Ernst Hohner (born June 28, 1886 in Trossingen ; † October 16, 1965 there ) was a German harmonica manufacturer. He was factory director and operations manager at Matth. Hohner AG, harmonica factories in Trossingen.

Career

Hohner was the grandson of the company founder Matthias Hohner . After attending the Protestant secondary school, he switched to the higher commercial school in Stuttgart. Afterwards, his apprenticeship years took him to France, Great Britain and the United States until he finally joined the family-owned company.

In addition to his entrepreneurial activity, Hohner took on positions in professional associations and political tasks. He was head of the musical instrument industry specialist group of the metal goods business group and the musical instrument industry working group in the Reich Chamber of Music and, after the end of the Second World War, he was a board member of the German-American Business Association in Frankfurt. He was also a member of the Trossingen city council.

On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the Hohner company, he initiated the construction of the concert hall named after him in Trossingen .
