Ernst Michalowski is a former German basketball official .

career

Michalowski, who already practiced basketball with handball players and track and field athletes at TG Herford in the late 1940s , is a pioneer of basketball in the city of Hagen . He is referred to as the "founding father of Hagen basketball". As a sports teacher, he introduced basketball to class in Hagen and founded a basketball club. In 1952 he became a sports warden when the basketball group Hagen eV was founded.

From 1951 he was the first chairman in the history of the SSV Hagen and remained in office until 1953, from 1972 to 1974 he was in the same position at the head of the club. In addition to his functionary work, he was a player from 1951 to 1953 on the team of SSV Hagen . In 1966 he was with the SSV German champion in the old men area. Also in 1966, Michalowski, who was Vice President of the German Basketball Federation (DBB), organized the first national basketball tournament for the male A youth school teams in Hagen.

In 1971 Michalowski was awarded the sports plaque of the City Sports Association of Hagen. The trophy of the German championship in the age group over 65 was named after Ernst Michalowski.

In 1995 he was awarded the Cross of Merit on Ribbon.
