history

1899 Basel booksellers began Ernst Reinhardt (1872-1937) in Munich with the purchase of the product range and Antiquarian bookstore Dr. Lüneburg at Maximiliansplatz 3. From around 1900 he became friends with Ricarda Huch , and in 1905 he had his first success with the early bestseller The Sexual Question by August Forel . From 1912 he became the first major publisher of Alfred Adler's works .

In 1934, Hans Volk confiscated a book by Elga Kern .

After difficult years under the Nazi regime and Ernst Reinhardt's death in 1937, his nephew Hermann Jungck (1904–1988) continued the publishing house. After the second closure order by the Nazis, the publishing house moved to Basel in 1944 , where Ernst Reinhardt AG was founded in 1945 . It was only after 1948 that production began to increase again in Munich. In the 1950s and 1960s new book series and magazines were set up, with the subject areas of psychology and education becoming increasingly important. In 1972 the publishing house became a partner in the Stuttgart University Pocket Books .

In 1973 Bruno Linne took over from Hermann Jungck as publishing director, and in 1978 Karl Münster became publishing director. Hildegard Wehler has been the publishing director since 1998. In 2019 the 45th edition of Fritz Riemann's " Basic Forms of Fear " was published.

Ernst Reinhardt Verlag today publishes numerous book series in the field of education and therapy. His bestsellers include books by Fritz Riemann and Naomi Feil . The magazines he publishes are: Interdisciplinary early intervention , body - dance - movement , human and horse international , motor skills , psychology in education and teaching , our youth and the quarterly journal for curative education and its neighboring areas (VHN). In addition, he has published the university paperbacks UTB , UTB-basics , UTB-Profile and UTB-PsychoMed compact since 1971 .
