Ernst Schmidt (born November 21, 1912 in Oberhausen ; † June 11, 1955 ) was a German SPD politician .

education and profession

Ernst Schmidt attended elementary school and trained as an electrician. He initially worked as an electrician and later as a representative and agency manager. He acted as party secretary of the SPD in Oberhausen from 1951. From April 1927 to 1933 he was a member of the German Metalworkers' Association.

Ernst Schmidt was a member of the SPD from 1928. Until 1933 he was active in the Socialist Workers' Youth (SAJ) and from 1931 to 1932 its chairman in Oberhausen. In 1946 he became chairman of the district association of the SPD Oberhausen and in 1947 chairman of the SPD subdistrict Duisburg / Wesel. From May 1947 to June 1955 Schmidt worked as a city councilor in Oberhausen. He was a member of the IG Druck und Papier.

From July 13, 1954 until his death on June 11, 1955, Ernst Schmidt was a directly elected member of the 3rd state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia for the constituency 075 Oberhausen-Nord.
