Ernst Singer (pharmacologist)

Ernst Singer (* 1949 in Innsbruck ) is an Austrian pharmacologist .

Life

Singer studied in Innsbruck and Vienna and received a postdoctoral fellowship at Harvard Medical School. In 1985 he received his habilitation in pharmacology and toxicology at the University of Vienna .

From 2000 to 2017, Singer was chairman of the ethics committee of the Medical University of Vienna and the Vienna General Hospital and board member of the Austrian Pharmacological Society (2001–2007) and has been a member of the therapeutic product evaluation committee since 2007 .

In his private life, Singer has dedicated himself to poetry - his work “Fridolin, Columbine and Billi-Vanilli” is a story made up of rhymes for children from the age of six. A collection of satirical contributions from the time as the commission chairman, "Un (i) ethical", was published by the Medical University of Vienna on the occasion of its adoption in April 2017.
