Ernst Sommerlad

Ernst Sommerlad (born October 27, 1895 in Ziegenberg , Upper Hesse; † 1977 ) was a German architect . He was based in Liechtenstein in the 1920s and 1930s , where his buildings marked the first turning point in the architectural history of the Principality towards the modern age .

Sommerlad studied architecture at the Technical University of Darmstadt . The first buildings were built in Liechtenstein from 1924, including the state power station in Vaduz and the Pfälzerhütte in Schaan . The construction of the Ebony villa colony in Vaduz also goes back to his planning.
