Ernst Staengel
Ernst Staengel (born May 19, 1827 in Stuttgart , † April 25, 1915 ) was a German chocolate manufacturer.
After looking around at home and abroad, the master confectioner founded a company in Stuttgart in 1857 and soon became purveyor to the court of the Württemberg royal family.
Three years after the establishment of the business, he moved the company from Furtbachstrasse to Olgastrasse in Stuttgart . In 1899 the company moved into the new factory building in Untertürkheim , where the company was to be located until 1975. Staengel shared his two sons Otto and Ernst in the business, which led to the fact that, against his resistance, the range was reduced from over 500 items at times to a few types of chocolate - but these were produced in large quantities. In addition to his sons, Ernst Staengel also took his brother-in-law Karl Ziller into the business. The brand name Eszet , which was patented in 1904 , arose from the first letters of the surnames Staengels and Zillers .
Ernst Staengel is buried in the forest cemetery in Stuttgart .
