Ernst Fahrtisen
Ernst Fahrtisen (born October 19, 1905 in St. Gallen , Switzerland ; † November 8, 1978 in Cape Town , South Africa ) was Chief Apostle from February 15, 1975 until his death, and thus chief director of the New Apostolic Church .
Working as Chief Apostle
After his predecessor, Chief Apostle Walter Schmidt , retired due to old age, he appointed the then District Apostle ( Church President ) of Switzerland as his successor. In a meeting of the apostles, in which almost all of the then incumbent New Apostolic apostles took part, this resolution was adopted unanimously. The international church leadership of the New Apostolic Church has been in Zurich , Switzerland , since his tenure . As the first Chief Apostle after the Second World War , Ernst Fahrtisen was able to hold divine services in what was then the GDR to keep. During his relatively short term in office, he visited his fellow believers around the world and died of a stroke during a business trip to South Africa.
Life
Ernst Fahrtisen was born into simple circumstances. After the early death of his father, his mother came into contact with the New Apostolic Church and, together with her two sons, received the seal in 1910 , which establishes membership in the New Apostolic Church. After attending elementary school and grammar school, which Ernstrouteisen completed with the Abitur, he completed a commercial apprenticeship and worked in various St. Gallen companies. During the Great Depression he had to get to know unemployment and poverty. As a young man, Ernst Fahrtisen got involved in New Apostolic congregational work. From October 21, 1935 until their death on September 28, 1969, Ernst Fahrtisen was with his wife Elsa, b. Bruderer, married. He had a daughter with her.

The District Church of Switzerland also included Austria, Hungary, the CSSR, Poland, Italy, Yugoslavia and Spain.
On August 18, 1965, Chief Apostle Walter Schmidt commissioned him to look after the Wuerttemberg District Church (southern Germany).
After taking over the office of Chief Apostle, he ordained Apostle Karl Kühnle as District Apostle for Württemberg on May 4, 1975 and Bishop Hans Urwyler as District Apostle for Switzerland on January 1, 1976 . The latter also followed him in the office of Chief Apostle after his death.
